What was so bad about LED clocks that all the companies are making backlit LCD clocks now? First of all this clock is very bright for something intended as an alarm clock. Alarm clocks 10 years ago tended to have two brightness settings, and even the high setting didn't emit as much room-brightening light as this clock does. Second, this clock, like many backlit LCD displays, has issues with viewing angles. If you have this on the same level as your head and it directly faces you, you should be okay (assuming you can sleep with all that light!). However, if you have it raised at all, or not directly pointed at you, you might have a problem reading it. I don't use the alarm function so I can't comment on that, and I found no issues with the push-on push-off buttons that change the colors (one each for red/green/blue light). As long as the high light level isn't a problem, and you have it on a night table next to your bed facing you, you should be okay, but if you plan on putting this in another room and want to see it from many angles think twice!Click Here to see more reviews about: Colorations Alarm Clock
