I needed a portable battery powered alarm clock that has an illuminated dial. Chosing this clock was a big mistake. It's time can only be illuminated by pressing one of several confusing un-labeled buttons TWICE, so you can't just see the time in a dark room. The alarm mechanism has mal-functioned on several occasions, usually at the worst time. The "nature sounds" are actually cheap sounding and annoying. The badly translated directions are worthless. This is the perfect gift for someone you detest.

Curtis IP215 Alarm Clock Radio/iPod Docking Station Review

I've had this iPod docking station for a couple of years, and it's probably one of the best purchases I've made. I don't know why people buy bargain speakers and expect theatre quality sound, but they do. Don't make that mistake with this unit. It will pump up the volume (exactly what I need!) but this is not a surround sound Dolby THX'ed Wonderdock. It's a clock radio with a place to dock your iPod so that you can play it and charge it at the same time.

I frequently move this between a couple of rooms, and I've dropped it more than once. I've also spilled stuff on it, and it works the same as it did when I took it out of the box the day I bought it. I don't use the clock or alarm, so I can't really comment on how well that functions, but the buttons appear to be pretty straightforward and easy to understand if I wanted to start. I occasionally listen to a local radio station on it, and I have no issues with reception.

There's a place in the bottom for a couple of AAA batteries in case of a power outage, and in the back there are in & out aux outlets, along with a "video out" port. I've never used the ports, but it does appear to be a versatile dock. There's also a switch in the back to turn doiwn the brightness of the clock display. The display is VERY bright at night and could double as a night light. I find the brightness disturbing to my sleep even at the low setting and stuck a label over it since I don't use the clock portion anyway.

The design is very sleek and modern looking, sure to go well with most decor, and it looks nice on a dresser (if you haven't spilled something on it like I have!). For the durability, sound quality, volume output, and apparent multi-functionality, I don't think there's a lot out there that can surpass this iPod dock. It's an excellent little workhorse for someone like me who plays their iPod 24/7, needs the volume output and is a little bit clumsy. I think overall it will please most users.

This clock has a simple and function design. Unfortunately, after an hour or more in the dark, the dial is faintly luminous but is not bright enough to make the hands visible. Baume & Mercier Hampton Square Alarm Clock Review

While the clock is very nice to look at and is very light weight it is not a good design for two reasons. The hands do not show very well in the dark despite being "glow in the dark" and the alarm is very muffled and turns off by itself after a few seconds.

BED WETTING ALARM-MALE Review

We purchased this direct from the manufacturer. It has a flexible sensor pad that you place inside your child's underwear. This is, even when new, unreliable as it shifts and is very uncomfortable for my son. After it gets wet, it must completely dry before it will work again. It must be rinsed and laid out to dry in the middle of the night or it will smell in the morning If you wait to clean it, it won't be dry by the time you need it again. After you've used it a bit, it gets crinkled (or there is the smallest amount of moisture left in it) and you have constant "false alarms" where every time my son moved it would squeak and squeal.

If this was in the $20 range, at least I would feel like I got what I paid for. I was so desparate for help for my son that I got what I could get quickest, assuming they're all basically the same. My son HATED this, it was a complete waste of money and I went out and spent another $100 on a Malem (which actually works).

We accidentally left our favorite TIMEX travel clock at a hotel some time ago.I have been searching for one like it, and I finally found one that comes close. The only difference is the alarm-set dial, which is now on the back of the clock...but we can deal with that.We both love the one-touch light feature that allows you to see the time in the middle of the night.The alarm-on/off switch is easy to use and has a red strip that lets you know that it's in the ON position.

Emerson Dual-Alarm Clock Radio - CK5051 Review

My husband and I really enjoyed this clock. Why we don't have it anymore has nothing to do with how it performed. It was a great clock. We liked how the numbers were large. That LED light makes it soothing to look at as well. No bright red, yellow or green lights. Just a nice blue(and there is a dimmer switch on it if it is too bright for you). It's taller than it is long which makes it a nice space saver. We also had quite a few storms last year, and if your power goes out and comes back on later (even after 2 days like what happened to us, the right time WILL show up again) And as an added bonus, the alarm still goes off on time if it is plugged in and the power is out (so long as you put a battery in it of course :D ). About that snooze button. We had no problems with that either. If you set the clock away from where you sleep, so you have to get up to turn it off, then you will actually look to see where the snooze/radio buttons are. Of course you're going to hit another button if you just reach over the bed, eyes half shut, and slap the thing. We had no problem finding the buttons with our eyes wide open. One more compliment has to be that we didn't find the buzzer annoying either. It was actually pleasant compared to every other one we tried out in the store. Go ahead, try them out. You'll see what we mean. It's more of a beep than a BUZZ! Which was really nice. Me personally I have to have the buzzer on. Otherwise I will fall back asleep to the music, and the one thing I can't stand to hear when I first wake up in the morning, is a loud BUZZ sound. Praise God, they made one that BEEPS for a change. Sangean RCR-1 Advanced Atomic Clock Radio - Silver Review

This clock radio is OUTSTANDING!!! (and it looks great). The time accuracy (atomic clock) is beyond compare.The AM/FM PLL synthesized radio is static free and has excellent sound. Not stereo, but still pleasing!The unit is feature-laden. I love the "Humane Waking System" which gradually ramps up the sound for both alert/radio alarms so as not to jolt you out of bed.I'm a very heavy sleeper, and the adjustable volume for both alarms makes it plenty loud to get up.The independence of both alarms makes this extremely convenient for husband/wife and weekday/weekend settings. Another nice feature is the "nap" function.Set it and the alarm goes off from 10 minutes to 2 hours later, without having to touch the normal alarms.The background light display is a pleasing pastel blue, which changes to orange leting you know that the alarm is serious! The adjustability of the display is excellent, including a dimmer at the push of a button, and completely off if you so desire. I could go on and on about the features of this unit.However, here is where the "but" comes in...the instruction manual is not the most clearly written. The most serious problem, in my opinion, was not being able to pick up the atomic signal.Sure the instruction manual warns you that it might take up to 48 hours to receive the signal.It also warns you that the unit might need to be repositioned to receive the signal.I was frustrated after not getting the signal for a couple of days.Then I noticed that the back of the radio has a circular slot for the rectangular "block-shaped" atomic signal antenna.Once I put the antenna in the slot, the signal was received, and has been maintained ever since. This was NOTstated in the instruction manual. Another minor criticism is there are 14 (7 AM and 7FM) presets, not 21 as stated in the manual.14 is more than enough for me.The alarm instructions took some patience to learn. These criticisms of the instruction manual should in no way detract from the features and quality of the product, both of which are excellent.Buy this and you will be extremely happy.Just be patient and fiddle around with it.Nothing beats trial and error when it comes to high-tech gadgets.

Sony ICF-CD855VSIL TV/Weather/FM/AM 4 Band CD Clock Radio Review

Bought this for its sleek design, small footprint and CD capability.It was purchased for our babies room so that we could play CDs.We wanted something smaller and better looking than any of the boom boxes and not as expensive as the shelf systems at which we looked.

So your needs may differ if you plan to use this as an alarm clock.

We really like the size and sound quality for something this small.It is very easy to set up without even using the owners manual.The buttons are well placed and have a very solid feel. The unit has a very high quality feel to it as you would expect from Sony and considering the price.

All functions work as described so I won't spend a lot of time on them individually.Reception is excellent in FM mode, AM is a bit weaker. The TV and weather bands are very hit and miss as far as reception and was dissapointed that I could not get better reception from the preselectd weather frequencies as I live in a well populated area that is subject to severe weather.

CD works flawlessly but the size hinders the bass and mid-range a bit.But again, consideing the size of the unit I am more than happy with the sound quality. If sound quality is more important than size you may want to consider the Panasonic RC-CD350.

I have only four complaints about this unit... the wall wart power supply is huge, the LCD backlight is VERY bright, even on its lowest setting of three.This isn't too much of an issue for us as we will use it as a night light in our babies room.More frustrating is the fact that considering how bright the LCD backlight is it is difficult to read the LCD diplay.I couldn't use this if it were for my bedroom alarm clock. And the last is the lack of a battery back up. This is sort of silly in a unit that costs $80.

Bottom line is this is a high quality unit which has a few drawbacks that a unit of this price point shouldn't have.

Relativly small size (considering it plays CDs)
Good sound quality (Panasonic was better but bigger)
Solid feel (What you expect from Sony at this price)

It's loud and it vibrates! It's great!

My daughter placed the vibrator under his pillow and the clock high on the wall where he had to get out of bed to turn it off.The numbers are big enough to read from across the room, and he hasn't been late to school since!

Although he has several alarm clocks, he could sleep through all of them, so I used to call him on the phone to wake him up.Sometimes it took several calls to accomplish this, because he could sleep through a ringing phone, too!

He doesn't sleep through the Wake Assure, though.

It's a good clock.I recommend it to anyone who has trouble waking up to an ordinary alarm clock.

Tall Silver Tone Metallic Bedside Alarm Clock Review

This seemed like the ideal clock for me, because it has a large display of the only information I care about. But when I received it, I learned that you have to slide off the battery cover on the back every time you set the alarm, the time or the date. A ridiculous design.

Tango Group H2O Water Powered Multifunction Clock II Review

I bought this clock because I wanted something that wouldn't use electricity and would be eco-friendly. Sadly I was quite disappointed for several reasons, the main one being that the water-battery is NOT reusable and when it dies you have to buy a new one from the company website. Yes, you can refill the battery with water several times, but eventually the battery has to be replaced completely. I'm not sure how much it costs, because I'm refusing to buy one. My original battery lasted about 6 months. Other reasons why this clock is not eco-friendly:

1) The product is made of a non-recyclable plastic.
2) Battery has to be replaced periodically and the company offers no way to recycle your existing battery.
3) Replacement batteries must be shipped, which costs more money and uses more energy.

If you really want a low-impact alarm clock I would get something solar powered, or a wind-up clock.

IPod IRise - AM/FM Radio And Alarm Clock Review

This thing has constant hum coming from the speakers, even when connected to an iPod nano. At high volume its poor quality shows well, with plenty of distortion and clipping. Clock and alarm are hard to setup. It doesn't control your iPod sound, which is annoying because you have to press the buttoms in the ipod in a incovenient position when docked.
Not worth the price charged in any way.

SONY ICF-C211-BLK AM/FM Clock Radio Review

I've had my Sony Clock Radio for quite a while now.It's durable (I've dropped it several times down several flights of stairs, but it's still here and working) and performs as advertised.One minor complaint though.The radio doesn't go very loud without distortion.But who would want to crank an alarm clock radio up anyways???Overall, this is a great product.

Westclox Projection alarm clock 70006 Review

We looked at several projection clocks on the internet before choosing this one.When we plugged it in, the projection was horrible!It had about a 3x3 red square that you couldn't even see the time.Then when we wrote the company about returning it, they first refused the return, saying we "damaged" the package.I would like to know how am I supposed to get the lousy clock out w/out even opening it?!?Finally they did accept the return and got the money back.

Sony ICF-C180COS Radio AM/FM- Dream Machine Review

You would not believe how hard it is to find a decent alarm clock. All I wanted was a alarm clock that shut off automatically on the weekend but the Emerson Research smart set was the only 2\5\7 day setting alarm clock I liked. After buying two of those and having issues with both, one the radio would lose the station over time and not wake you up, two, a brand new one having a bad LED and poor radio reception. Emerson needs to check their quality and then maybe they will have a great product. Yes this Sony has a hard to read display because of the viewing angle but if you have a small table next to the bed it works just fine. The radio pulls in every station and sounds good and loud for the size of the device. The alarms are really easy to set all you do is turn the knob to the desired time. Plus all you have to do is hit one button to shut the alarms off for the weekend or have two new sets of alarms. This thing gives you up to four alarms. If it had a better display I would give it 5 stars.

Needed a desk clock with three different time zones and for that purpose, this clock is perfect. The case looks more elegant/sturdy in the photographs. It's black plastic and the panel for the battery doesn't fit as well as it could. Had the clock been 10-15 instead of 25 I'd say it was a great buy. At 25 - it was a little expensive for what it is.

RCA RC65i - Clock radio with iPhone / iPod cradle Review

I am more than happy with my purchase of this iPod alarm clock radio. It is just the right size and fits perfectly on my night stand with a ton of extra space.
- It is actually smaller in footprint than my previous iHome IH9 iPod Alarm Clock. And I actually like this unit better than that one.
- The appearance is very professional with a silver metal and plastic finish on the front with black on the rear. Sound quality is above average for this class of product, although I am not quite sure if it beats the iHome, but it is definitely very close in quality.
- I also like how they use touch controls on the front of the unit for: iPod, Radio, AUX, and Off. The AUX input is obviously a huge plus as you can play any media player that has a typical head phone jack on it.
- The controls are very simple, to set an alarm only requires one button push (or two or three of same button if you want to be waken up by the iPod or AUX).
- The only thing that is somewhat annoying is the fact that the deeper controls are recessed behind the front and kind of hard to figure out if your not looking directly over them.

Other than that I am very happy with my new iPod alarm clock. I got it at a great price and I would definitely recommend it at this price as well as the iHome is nearly $30 more expensive than this one.

Disney's Cars Tow Mater Clock Radio - C300ACR Review

My daughters (5 and 7) receieved this alarm clock for Christmas. It is easy for them to turn off in the morning. The display is nice and bright. They love to push the demo button which goes through the 5 different Mater sayings. My only complaint is that it would be hard for a little one to set by themselves, since the buttons are a bit hard to push and they are too far apart for little hands. But sometimes you don't want your kids to be able to set their alarm for 3am! Compared to the other Cars alarm clocks on the market, I'd say this one is the best.

Oregon Scientific RM982A/SL Desktop Atomic Clock with Exactset Review

I purchased this clock to use as a World Time clock with my shortwave radio. It is a useful, accurate little "no-frills" self-setting clock. The alarm can also be nice, although it's not actually loud enough to wake me. The primary display mode conveniently shows you the time (with seconds), the date and the month. While the digits are not illuminated, the large "Snooze" button on top also activates a 5-second back-light.

Unfortunately, the mechanism that sets Zulu time in this clock has not taken into account the recent decision by the U.S. Congress to offset Daylight Saving Time by two weeks. Evidently, this clock computes the UCT time by extrapolating from the local time zone offset, instead of the opposite. This means that you'll have to adjust your offset by one hour for those two weeks between the time that the U.S. used to change their clocks and the time that they change them now.

Solar Alarm Clock Review

Paid 20 dollars for an alarm clock. You decide if it was too much or not.

This alarm clock is very stylish and small. It's a cube (so cute!)

Obviously a big draw is the solar panel. It works, but when the lights go off or the sun dips down, it will shut of completely, and you must reset all other functions. However, the panels activate automatically (so i'm told) so that it switches between battery and solar to avoid that problem. It works, i'll say that.

The display has very bright numbers, a big plus if your eye sight is bad. The back-lit screen is also very handy when your in the dark, and its extremely clear. The downside to LCD's are that you cant see the numbers or the unit itself when it is pitch black, however.

The snooze button works well, with a 5 minute snooze inbetween alarms (i use it regularly.) The alarm is pretty loud, but not overbearing or 'fast'. It will speed up its pace after a few minutes, and shut off after a while (haven't timed it, but i assume 5 minutes).

The buttons on the back are a bit hard to manipulate at times, but they work well.

All and all, a nice alarm clock that does the job, and the solar panels are a plus.

I bought this clock as a gift, but couldn't resist one for myself as well.I love how the clock automatically syncs with the atomic clock.Knowing that the time I am seeing is as true as possible is a neat feature.The projection feature is not as large as another projection clock I own, but it works nicely.I agree that it could be a bit brighter, but in the dark it's easily readable.In addition, the temperature reading is a nice addition.A previous review stated that the reading was off by a few degrees, which makes me wonder if they have it in the sunshine.My reading has been right on for the last three weeks.I like how you can set the projection display to rotate from time to temp.It's nice waking up in the morning and knowing how warm it is outside before you even get out of bed.Takes any guessing out of your morning.

For the price, this is a great little clock.I do wish that the backlight stayed on continuously, but with the projection display, it's really not necessary.Setting the alarm is also a bit confusing.You'll need to read the manual to figure it out.

I don't think the instruction manual goes into enough detail on the features of the clock radio for things like how to set the channel pre-sets and how to use auxillary devices like an iPod.When the radio is on, the display shows the radio station, not the time.That's annoying when I'm getting up in the morning and want to check the time - I have to turn off the radio if I want to see what time it is.What I dislike the most is that the display is un-readable unless I'm looking at it head-on, from an angle you basically see everything lit up and that's useless, so if I want to check the time when I'm laying in bed I have to pick up the clok or contort my body.Had I known these things I probably would have purchased a different product.

Timex Wacky Shake and Wake Alarm Clock Review

My college-age son lost his Sonic Boom Portable Vibrating Alarm Clock by Sonic Alert, and the Wacky Shake and Wake Alarm Clock was readily available at Target, so I picked one up. I returned it immediately because it does not serve the same purpose, and my first clue should have been its name. Both are battery-operated, but unlike his Sonic Boom, this alarm clock is big and round and will not fit under your pillow. It uses a variety of annoying voices that harass you into waking up before vibrating. This is not a serious alarm clock, but more of a gag gift, and might be of some use if it was at least funny. My son purchased another Sonic Boom PORTABLE (without a cord to wrap around you while sleeping) Vibrating Alarm Clock by Sonic Alert. You may want to research other brands as well, but we don't recommend the Wacky Shake and Wake Alarm Clock.

iHome T110T "Mega Sound" Extra Loud Alarm Clock Review

This item is listed as coming from "The Price Pros" however the inovice shows "Depot Repair Services, LLC."I suspect this product was a Timex return and reconditioned.The alarm was definitely not "Mega Sound" and was a poor choice.I ordered a sonic boom which is about 10 times louder than this alarm. No where was there an indication that I was buying anything other than a brand new unit.

Moshi MTC8304 Voice Control Travel Alarm Clock Pink Review

This item is cute and I like the styling but the voice recognition doesn't really work.If you like having conversations with customer service robots who need you to repeat yourself three and four times before they can understand you, buy this clock.The one time my alarm went off on time, I hit snooze and the voice said it would be going off again in 8 minutes.Never heard from the alarm again.Also, its not really suitable as a travel item as the metallic colored finish scratches off instantly on contact with anything else.So for travel you would have to make a flannel pouch for it or something.

This clock does all you could want.
1.3 AA batteries, no wires, good life
2.It is easily readable in all types of light
3.The illuminated letters are very easy to read in the dark or low light
4.It is small enough to fit most anywhere, yet very readable, even from a distance
5.Dead quiet, no ticking or humming noise
6.It is heavy enough so that it is not easily knocked off the table
7.It comes red and blue, both are fine but I prefer the red
In short:It's a clock and does it's job, I like it.

Coby AM/FM Alarm Clock Radio Review

This alarm clock seems to have been designed for elderly people who have difficulty seeing and hearing.First, the the clock is very large.I mean, it's greater than a foot long; you will have no trouble seeing what time it is from the other room (note to insomniacs: glow from eerie green numbers = more time staring at ceiling).Second, there are only two options for a wake up call: (1) the loudest buzzer ever constructed by humans; or (2) a radio that, admittedly, I have not tried (who uses that option anyway?).This clock is a real find for people losing their senses of sight and hearing, but for those of you with undiminished eyes and ears, you might want another clock in the interest of staying that way.
