The overall concept is very appealing, but there are a few problems. First, the clock mechanics are completely worthless. The gears are extremely cheap plastic and the seconds gear was never able to move the minute gear- hence it never kept time. I removed the clock portion and replaced it with one that I purchased at a hobby store. From a distance, the overall look of the piece is wonderful. However, if inspected closely there are significant defects in the finish. I seriously considered sending it back but decided that the overall unique concept and the fact that it is actually going to sit on my mantle so won't be scrutinized too closely made me decide to keep it. If you think of it as being a shell for a clock and expect to replace the actually clock part, I think you will be happy with it. But you get what you pay for...for $25 dollars you do get a piece that is made in China and shows all the true hallmarks of that fact.
